This urban and suburban mix consists of tree-lined streets bordered by the Pacific Coast Highway to the north and Colorado Street to the south. It is primarily single-family homes, two-story colonials, single-story bungalows, Spanish, and Mediterranean-style architecture. The first homes date back to the 1920s and was significantly built up during the 1930s to the 1950s.
The cost of living is a little bit higher than the national average but with low crime, excellent access to amenities, employment opportunities, and top-rated schools, Alamitos Heights certainly makes up for its higher cost-of-living. Alamitos Heights Schools
Residents are part of the Long Beach Unified School District and are assigned to the Lowell elementary school, the Rogers middle school, and the Wilson high school. The elementary school receives a 9 out of 10 and the middle school receives an 8 from grade school start work. These schools are within 1/2 a mile to a mile of most homes in Alamitos Heights.
There are also multiple golf courses and parks nearby. Recreation Park [pictured] is one of the largest in Long Beach featuring a nine-hole golf course and an 18 hole golf course. This sprawling 211-acre park features a tennis center, Bowling Green, sports fields, and a community center with multiple classes and workshops. This park also has a fishing pond, dog park, picnic area, playgrounds, and youth center.
Nearby is the Colorado Lagoon Park and Vista Park featuring summer concerts and weekly farmer's markets. Residents are close to popular markets such as Ralphs, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's. The farmers market every Wednesday from 3 PM to 7 PM is located at Marine Stadium just south of the border to Alamitos Heights.
